Liverpool XI vs Man Utd: Alisson Becker ready to start, Mo Salah could be rested

Alisson Becker is ready to return to the Liverpool starting line-up for Sunday's visit to Manchester United .

But Jurgen Klopp must wait before deciding if Mohamed Salah is ready to feature at Old Trafford, even if there is cautious optimism that the Egyptian will be fit.

Alisson has been sidelined since tearing his calf in the first half of the Reds' opening-day win over Norwich City at Anfield back in August.

But, while his rehabilitation has stepped up significantly in recent weeks, there has been no rush to restore him to the starting line-up.

That is because of the impressive standards set by his back-up, summer signing Adrian San Miguel, since he was thrust into the limelight just four days after his arrival was confirmed.

However, Alisson resumed full training prior to the international break and is pushing to reclaim his place ahead of Liverpool's weekend clash with their arch-rivals.

In the absence of an international fixture for Egypt, Salah has enjoyed time off since picking up an injury during the latter stages of last Saturday's victory over Leicester City.

The 27-year-old avoided serious damage to his ankle following a rash challenge from Hamza Choudhury, but was seen limping out of Anfield after full-time.

The Reds' medical team have been forced to wait for the problem to settle before allowing Salah to train again, though that is expected to happen this week.

Still, the Egyptian will need to prove his is able to play without pain if he is to start against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men on Sunday.
