Liverpool XI vs Brentford: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, injury latest for Premier League

Liverpool know they must produce a professional performance against Brentford to confirm Champions League football next season.

After a torrid defence of their Premier League crown, Liverpool can finish no higher than fourth in Arne Slot’s second season - but the Reds are in danger of slipping into the Europa League on the final day.

The good news is that a point will be enough to confirm fifth, and with it, a spot in next season’s Champions League. However, Brentford are not a side lacking something to play for on the final day of the Premier League season.

Already under enough scrutiny for Liverpool’s listless season, Slot’s future could hang on Champions League qualification.

In Slot’s final pre-match press conference of the season, he confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson has trained with the side.

The Brazilian has been absent since March with a hamstring issue, but if he is fit enough to play he will likely go straight back into the starting XI.

There was no update regarding Jeremie Frimpong’s availability after he missed Liverpool’s defeat to Aston Villa last time out. The Dutchman has suffered numerous hamstring issues this year, but it is believed he could return for the Brentford game.

Andy Robertson, who will depart Anfield at the end of the season, may have to receive his goodbye from Liverpool fans off the bench.

Mohamed Salah has also announced he will be leaving Liverpool this summer, but there is no guarantee he will start his farewell match at Anfield.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis MacAllister, and Ryan Gravenberch are likely starters under Slot when they are fit. On the wings, Rio Ngumoha has been trusted in recent weeks, although Curtis Jones may be called upon.

Alexander Isak missed the defeat to Villa but is in contention to start. Though, after an injury-interrupted season, it may be a risk to chuck the Swede straight into the firing line.

Cody Gakpo will be involved in some capacity; perhaps on the wing, or retained as the frontman of Liverpool’s attack. We’re predicting the latter.

Liverpool XI: Alisson; Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; MacAllister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Ngumoha; Gakpo

Doubts: Alisson, Frimpong , Endo, Isak

Injured: Bradley, Ekitike, Leoni

Time and date: 4pm BST on Sunday, May 24, 2026

Venue: Anfield
