Liverpool weather: freezing at -3C before high temperatures expected

There is set to be some freezing nights and mornings over the next few days with temperatures dropping as low as -3C.

However the weather will recover in the coming days with highs of 15C across Merseyside. According to the Met Office, it will also stay mainly dry with only patches of cloud and plenty of sunshine.

Today, on Wednesday, April 27, it's a frosty morning but it will warm up throughout the day. It will feel pleasant in the afternoon with some light winds expected and a maximum temperature of 15C.

Into the evening, cloud will reduce leading to clear periods overnight and widespread frost developing. There will be a minimum temperature of -3C.

Another generally dry day is expected on Thursday, with sunny spells. Looking towards the Bank Holiday weekend, Friday and Saturday will benefit from sunny periods an highs of 14C.

It may be a little showery rain is possible in places on Sunday, but some places may stay largely dry. Met Office’s Clare Nasir said: "Settled through the rest of April with some chilly nights but temperatures will recover into the weekend. We will certainly notice the difference on the east coast.

"High pressure extends down from the north across much of the UK through Wednesday, a light breeze, the air though is rather chilly so expect a frost first thing across one or two rural spots and then over the next few days it remains in place keeping any weather fronts at bay coming in from the west or south.

"And then we will see an invasion of cloud and rain as we head through the weekend across the far north west."

Nasir added: "In land clearer skies, starry skies at that, and it’s going to turn cold. So temperatures dipping down close to freezing but in one or two rural spots we could see values as low as -1C to -4C, certainly the southern uplands, Northumberland, Cumbria as well as the glens of Scotland. So it will be a sunny start to the day come Wednesday morning and a bright one with some sunshine."
