Liverpool transfer round-up: Klopp to axe "top" talent with Ryan Gravenberch inbound

Liverpool enjoyed one of the few highlights of their season on Monday night, as they hammered Leeds 6-1 at Elland Road.

It's been a season to forget for the Reds. They are eighth in the Premier League table - nine points behind Newcastle in fourth - and have failed to win a major honour. As such, manager Jurgen Klopp may rebuild his struggling squad this summer.

Liverpool are expected to bring in at least one central midfielder in the upcoming window, and perhaps a couple of defenders. But who exactly is Klopp interested in signing? Here are the latest transfer rumours from Merseyside.

Carvalho set for chop

Klopp will allow Fabio Carvalho to leave Liverpool on loan this summer - despite signing him just a year earlier.

That's according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The 20-year-old forward was signed from Fulham for an initial £5million last July but has struggled to make an impact on Merseyside. Carvalho has scored just three goals in all competitions this season.

Tellingly, he's played just two minutes of Premier League football since the World Cup in Qatar. It's proving difficult for Carvalho to get a look in, with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz also on Liverpool's books.

Despite this, Liverpool fans would be surprised to see Carvalho leave - especially after Klopp sang his praises last summer. Klopp told reporters: "He’s a technical player, he’s incredibly creative and we will have a lot of fun with him definitely... a top addition for us."

Barcelona after Trent

Barcelona are considering a sensational move for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after a tricky campaign on Merseyside.

The England international, 24, has faced criticism for his defensive work, with Liverpool struggling in the Premier League. Yet he remains one of the best attacking right-backs in European football, scoring three goals and providing six assists this season.

As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona are considering an ambitious bid for Alexander-Arnold. The defender is valued at £70m, but it's unlikely Liverpool would sell the beloved homegrown talent - even if he's struggled for form this season.

Gravenberch latest

Liverpool have parked their intertest in Jude Bellingham and are now chasing Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

The Netherlands international, 20, joined Bayern from Ajax in a £20m deal last summer but has struggled to make an impact in Bavaria. He's played just 18 Bundesliga games this season, and it's believed Liverpool could snap him up for just £25m in a few months' time.

The Reds were interested in signing Gravenberch before his move to Bayern and have reignited their interest after failing to land Bellingham. The talent could turn out to be a very smart signing for Liverpool if he fulfils his exciting potential.

"He has a lot of capabilities, especially in an attacking sense, but he understands hard work," Erik ten Hag, who gave Gravenberch his chance at Ajax, has previously said.

It's believed Gravenberch is interested in a move to Merseyside and was recently spotted wearing a Liverpool shirt. Having said that, other clubs will be interested in him.
