Liverpool transfer news: Reds enter race to sign Arsenal target

Arsenal have been long-time admirers of Ismaila Sarr - but they could see their efforts to sign the attacker thwarted by Liverpool .

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a superb season for Rennes and helped the French club reach the Europa League last 16, where they were beaten by Arsenal .

According to CalcioMercato , Jurgen Klopp is keen on a summer move for the talented Senegalese star as they look to snatch his signature from the Gunners.

Sarr, who has also been linked with Chelsea in the past, was understood to be on Unai Emery's January shortlist but he was forced to postpone a possible move until the summer due to their financial restrictions.

He is likely to be back in the market in the summer, but the draw of Liverpool means he faces a much harder task to convince Sarr to the Emirates.

The presence of Sadio Mane could have a big impact on a potential move to Liverpool as Sarr is offered the chance to link up with his Senegal team-mate.

The 20-cap attacker has previously labelled Mane as a "role model" and admitted he'd love to follow in his footsteps.

“Sadio is a role model for me," Sarr has said previously.

“He is a good player. He always advises me. Even on the bench, he told me to be ready to replace him.”

It appears there is set to be plenty of competition for Sarr's signature as he considers making the move to the Premier League after his 11-goal Ligue 1 campaign.
