Liverpool target Timo Werner makes transfer decision amid Jurgen Klopp interest

Timo Werner has decided he will reject Bayern Munich's advances as he wants to join Liverpool.

The RB Leipzig frontman is set to be one of the most in demand players this summer.

His goalscoring exploits have attracted attention from a host of Premier League clubs as well as the German champions.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both been linked but it is the Reds who are Werner's preferred destination.

The 24-year-old, who has hit a career high 27 goals this term, is keen to link up with Jurgen Klopp, according to Bild.

Bayern were hopeful of jumping to the front of the queue but Werner does not want to join another German outfit.

The Leipzig man has long been linked with a move to Merseyside and his £52m release clause is well documented.

And Werner himself even he confessed that his playing style would suit the Premier League champions in waiting.

"There’s one of the best managers in the world with Jurgen Klopp, and he is also German," he said earlier this year.

"Many things suggest that I would maybe fit in [at Liverpool] very well with my playing style. But I don’t think about that at the moment because we have so much to do with Leipzig.

"I won’t rule out anything. We have the European Championship in the summer, I want to focus on that tournament. About everything else I will think after the season."

Leipzig were still in the hunt for the Bundesliga and the Champions League prior to the season being postponed.

Werner scored the winner at Tottenham when the Germans beat Jose Mourinho's side in north London in February.
