Liverpool striker returns and scores 'Mohamed Salah-esque' goal at Anfield

Liverpool's U23s were in action in Premier League 2 on Saturday afternoon and comfortably beat opponents Arsenal 3-0 at Anfield.

Three second-half goals were scored by Mateusz Musialowski, Paul Glatzel and James Norris to secure all three points.

Barry Lewtas’ side came into the game on the back of four consecutive defeats in the league, but started the first half the better of the two teams.

Musialowski, who turned 18 today, had a shot deflected inside the opening 10 minutes before he curled an effort wide.

Harvey Davies was called into action midway through the first 45 minutes as he produced a crucial double save to keep the scoreline level.

Little separated the two sides at the break, but the Reds certainly stepped things up second-half.

Musialowski was first to find the back of the net on 55 minutes after a clever flick from Glatzel.

Glatzel, who is on loan at Tranmere Rovers but returned to feature for the young Reds, was next to score with a Mohamed Salah-esque finish.

The 20-year-old showed wonderful footwork with a drag back in the box to beat three opponents before directing his effort beyond the Arsenal keeper.

Norris then added another as he ran through on goal and slotted it into the back of the net.

The U23s next Premier League 2 fixture is away at Blackburn Rovers on October 25.

Liverpool team: Davies, Bradley, Beck, Boyes, Koumetio, Clayton, Balagizi (Woltman, 71), Morton, Glatzel, Norris (Dixon-Bonner, 80), Musialowski (Bearne, 89). Unused subs: Hughes, Quansah.
