Liverpool star James Milner makes vow after reaching milestone in Chelsea win

Liverpool star James Milner has made a vow after reaching a milestone in the win over Chelsea.

The Englishman came off the bench for Jurgen Klopp’s side to help the Premier League champions see off the Blues 2-0.

While the limelight was stolen in the midfield by debutant Thiago Alcantara, it was a big day for the 34-year-old as he made his 150th appearance for the Anfield side.

And he sent a message to fans while commenting on a social media post by the club on his latest feat.

Writing on his Twitter channel, Milner simply said “here’s to the next 150” as well as adding an emoji of an old man.

And the Anfield faithful were delighted to see Milner’s commitment to the club.

“Looking forward to it,” one supporter said.

Another commented: “This is what I like to hear James.”

While a third suggested that the midfielder would also have a place at Anfield after his next 150 appearances.

“Yes Milly! What a legend! We want you to stay as long as possible and become a coach right after you hang up them experiences boots of yours,” they said.

“The team needs your experience and winning mentality.”

And a fourth added: “Keep up the great play, James.”

A fifth made a brilliant prediction, with: “2025: ‘Milner with a penalty and scores and secures the title for Liverpool.”

With a sixth simply writing: “Millie, best of the best.”

It comes as former Reds player Danny Murphy has suggested the arrival of Thaigo from Bayern Munich will lead to “many unhappy faces” in the midfield.

He wrote in the Daily Mail: "There is no doubt in my mind Thiago Alcantara is coming to Liverpool as a first XI player - I doubt very much he's had any conversations with Jurgen Klopp about sitting on the bench this season."

Another player to impress at Stamford Bridge was Fabinho, who received a message from new team-mate Diogo Jota.
