Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister training start confirmed as Liverpool set for boost

New signings Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister are two of the 14 Liverpool players set to report for pre-season training on Tuesday.

After welcoming back a small contingent of first-team players for day one of the summer schedule on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp will have a further 14 turn up for the Tuesday session at the AXA Centre as those involved in the post-season internationals head back to the club's Kirkby base.

England duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson will be part of the pack alongside the Netherlands pair of Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk.

Caoimhin Kelleher and Alisson Becker will bolster the goalkeeping department after their respective efforts for Ireland and Brazil, while France centre-back Ibrahima Konate will also be on duty.

Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson, Luis Diaz, Kostas Tsimikas and Mohamed Salah complete the group as Klopp and his fitness staff prepare to put the new arrivals through their paces for what is always a taxing day on the calendar for the playing staff.

Mac Allister signed for the Reds last month when his £35m release clause was triggered at Brighton & Hove Albion following a historic campaign where he won the World Cup with Argentina in December before inspiring the Seagulls to their highest-ever Premier League finish of sixth.

Liverpool moved quickly to secure the services of the 24-year-old midfielder before turning their attention to Szoboszlai whose own £60m release clause at RB Leipzig was activated on June 30 before he officially became a Reds player a couple of days later.

Both recruits will give the midfield department an attacking new look about it and they could be involved for their unofficial debut when Klopp's side fly to Germany for friendlies with Bundesliga II side Karlsruhe on July 19 and Greuther Furth five days later.

From there, the Reds briefly report back to Merseyside before flying out to Singapore for exhibition matches with Leicester City (July 30) and Bayern Munich (August 2) at the National Stadium.

Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, meanwhile, will join up with their club-mates later down the line after their successful exertions for England's Under-21 squad at the European Championships.

Jones was officially credited with the goal that won Lee Carsley's Young Lions the tournament on Saturday when they beat Spain 1-0 in the final in Georgia. It was the first time in 39 years that England U21s have lifted the Euros trophy.

Players reporting back for duty on Tuesday: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Jordan Henderson, Diogo Jota, Caoimhin Kelleher, Ibrahima Konate, Alexis Mac Allister, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Kostas Tsimikas, Virgil van Dijk.
