However forecasters say it will feel pleasant in any sunnier periods that develop. Further blustery showers or longer spells of rain will appear into the weekend however. Despite the rain, temperatures will remain well above average for late October.
The BBC weather outlook for Friday to Sunday reads: "After an exceptionally mild night, Friday will be mild and breezy with the chance of some heavy showery rain for a time. The afternoon should see sunny spells, however.
"Heavier spells of rain are likely to move in from the south-west at times on Saturday with the chance of some drier interlude during the day. Sunday will be drier but quite breezy. A few showers are likely."
