Liverpool scrap plans for pre-season friendly with Tottenham due to Champions League final clash

Liverpool have now scrapped plans to play a pre-season friendly at Tottenham's new stadium on July 28 against Napoli - and instead are investigating the possibility of playing at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

Liverpool have several pre-season fixtures already pencilled in - and a trip to Tottenham's £850 million arena in late July was planned as the final fixture before the Community Shield match with Manchester City.

But with Spurs and Liverpool now contesting Saturday's Champions League final it was deemed inappropriate to stage the game at Tottenham's home.

Instead, Liverpool are thinking of using Murrayfield in Edinburgh as host for a warm-up fixture on July 28.

Anfield is unavailable because the pitch is being re-laid after a series of summer pop and rock concerts.

Liverpool will play in Indiana, Boston and New York against Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting Lisbon and will also spend time at a training camp in Evian, France.
