Liverpool’s River of Light trail event won’t take place this evening, it has been confirmed.
This afternoon, Visit Liverpool announced that the trial lights would be turned off tonight due to high winds. It is hoped that the trail will be lit up once more from tomorrow.
Announcing the news on Twitter, Visit Liverpool said: “River of Light - Weather Alert. Due to high winds, River Of Light will not be going ahead this evening. Don't worry though, the event runs until 6 November so there's still lots of opportunities to enjoy the trail!”

The walking trail spans 2km and includes brand-new, world premiere pieces alongside existing artworks which have never been displayed in the city before. The trail is self-guided with no need to book a ticket. The light installations are switched on at 5pm and switched off at 9pm every evening.
The trail launched on Friday, October 21 and will run until Sunday, November 6. The exhibition is designed to be family friendly and inclusive. It is advised that small children are accompanied by an adult at all times. Dogs are allowed to walk the trail.
