Couple that with the fact last season they had to travel to Qatar for the Club World Cup and the Reds can actually consider themselves slightly luckier in terms of their workload.
Yes those nine games last season included an EFL Cup game at Aston Villa where Liverpool fielded a team of youngsters due to a fixture clash with the Club World Cup.
Nevertheless the fixtures - and time zones - look to have been that bit kinder to the Premier League champions this annum.
The Reds will also play four games at Anfield next month - one more than they did last year despite playing a game less.
