Liverpool player ratings as Joe Gomez abysmal and six others awful in Wolves embarrassment

Alisson Becker 6

Saved well from a one-on-one from Nunes and fielded everything that wasn’t put in by either his own players or gifted to the opposition. So fed up towards end that he ran out of his own goal for 40 yards with ball at his feet after save from Jimenez.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 4

Exposed far too often at the far post but sought to provide some threat down the right. Didn’t do anything with it, though.

Joe Gomez 2

Allowed Hwang to run clear for the first, lack of communication with Alisson set up the second and put Bajcetic in trouble to initiate the third. Looks completely shot of confidence.

ANALYSIS: Joe Gomez truth now brutally clear as Stefan Bajcetic shames team-mates

PLAYER RATINGS: Joe Gomez terrible and six others awful in Wolves embarrassment

Joel Matip 3

Bit unlucky with the own goal, but coughed up an easy chance for Nunes and looked ready to flap at any moment. Mild improvement after break.

Andy Robertson 3

Played Hwang onside for the first goal and didn’t clear at the near-post for the build-up to the second. Not great. Subbed.

Stefan Bajcetic 6

Outmuscled on occasion first half and given far too much responsibility by his wayward senior team-mates. Second half, though, was much better and good composure. Subbed.

Naby Keita 3

A couple of forward thrusts early on but seemingly the harder he tried, the worse he became. Didn’t make the most of some good second-half positions. Subbed.

Thiago Alcantara 3

When the Spaniard is consistently giving the ball away, you know things are going badly wrong. Subbed.

Mohamed Salah 4

Curled a first-half effort wide but didn’t offer enough defensive help. Mind you, wasn’t given much protection by the officials.

Darwin Nunez 5

Drew decent stops from Wolves goalkeeper Sa in both halves and at least looked like he was capable of causing some mischief.

Cody Gakpo 3

After the step forward last weekend, may as well have not been there on the left flank first half. Livened up a bit after break but final ball not very good. Subbed.

Jordan Henderson (for Keita 65) 3

Couldn’t impact the game in the way he would have wanted.

Harvey Elliott (for Bajcetic 77)

No doubt a bit miffed he didn’t start.

James Milner (for Thiago 86)

Introduced.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Gakpo 86)

Came on.

Kostas Tsimikas (for Robertson 86)

Played.
