Liverpool on 'red alert' after West Ham make Declan Rice transfer admission

England midfielder Declan Rice could be edging closer to a big-money move to a top Premier League club after reports claimed that West Ham United have admitted they will now struggle to hold onto him.

And that has reportedly put both Liverpool and Chelsea on red alert, as both clubs look to lure the 23-year-old away from East London.

Rice will be back in action for the Three Lions on Friday evening when Gareth Southgate's side face USA in their second Group B match against the USA. The Hammers midfielder put in an accomplished performance on Monday, when England cruised past Iran 6-2 in their World Cup opener.

But according to Football Insider, sources have claimed that West Ham expect to lose Rice in the summer to a club that can offer Champions League football. He is understood to have rejected multiple new contract offers from his current club, including one with wages of around £200,000 per week.

Rice's current deal runs until 2024, but the Hammers could look to make a sizable profit on his sale in the summer, before he has the opportunity to run his contract down.

Football Insider lists Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United as clubs who are all interested in acquiring Rice, naming Jurgen Klopp as a 'huge' admirer of the player. With scouts understood to already be in Qatar to monitor the progress of other Liverpool midfield target Jude Bellingham they will have the opportunity to keep a watchful eye on England counterpart Rice at the same time.
