Liverpool’s season has not gone to the plan that many expected to happen so far.
The Reds have amassed just nine points from their first six Premier League fixtures. That leaves Liverpool in seventh place and six points adrift of top spot.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have also started poorly in Europe, too. Liverpool’s opening Champions League group match ended in a 4-1 defeat away to Napoli.

Liverpool’s league fixture against Wolves this weekend has been postponed, and there is the likelihood the same could happen to next week’s trip to Chelsea. And in the Champions League there is still doubt over whether Tuesday night’s match against Ajax will go ahead.
A website has attempted to predict how Liverpool’s season will pan out. Respected statistics and analysis website FiveThirtyEight has forecast the final standings in the Premier League and Champions League this season, based on a complex model which takes into account a host of factors.
They have crunched the numbers and predicted that Liverpool will still finish in second place, 13 points adrift of Manchester City who are tipped to be top. The Reds have been handed a 14% chance of winning the league title, and a 74% chance of finishing in the top four.
In the Champions League, the Reds have been handed a 5% chance of winning the competition. This includes a 57% chance of reaching the knockout stages, 36% chance of getting to the quarter-final, 21% of reaching the semi-final and 11% of getting to the final in Istanbul.
Interestingly, though, it appears that Liverpool may have a better chance of winning the Europa League. That’s according to this site, anyway.
The website have predicted that Liverpool have an 8% chance of lifting the Europa League trophy. This makes the Reds second favourites, behind Arsenal who have a 10% chance.
Liverpool could enter the Europa League in the knockout stages, should they get knocked out of the Champions League group stages. They would need to finish third in the group to drop down to UEFA’s second competition.
