Liverpool midfielder handed surprise Brazil Olympic team call-up

Liverpool's Allan Rodrigues de Souza has been handed a shock call-up to the Brazil Olympic squad.

The midfielder, who is currently on loan at Brazilian side Fluminense, has been called up to his countries squad for their friendlies against Colombia and Chile.

The 22-year-old joined the Reds in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £500,000 after impressing the club's coaches and scouts at the Frenz International Cup.

He then went on to spend time at Finnish club Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho and Belgian club Sint-Truiden, before returning to the Reds in 2016 in hope of securing a work permanent.

But after his work permanent application was declined, Souza joined Hertha Berlin in August 2016 on a season-long loan deal, before going on to join Cypriot side Apollon Limassol on another season-long loan a year later.

Despite failing to make a single appearance for the Reds, Souza signed a new deal with the Anfield Club in July 2018, before once again leaving to join Eintracht Frankfurt for the season.

But in February of this year, the Brazilian saw his loan spell at the German club cut-short, before immediately joining Fluminense.
