Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp criticised by Alan Shearer for FA Cup no-show

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been criticised by Alan Shearer for his FA Cup boycott this week.

Liverpool were coached by Under-23 boss Neil Critchley for their 1-0 win over Shrewsbury at Anfield last night.

Klopp decided against attending the match or putting up any of his first-team players for selection – a stance that Newcastle legend Shearer is critical of.

“What doesn't sit easy with me is that he is the manager, for me he should be there at the ground this evening giving the support to those young players that he's picked,” Shearer told the BBC.

“He can still have his holiday. He can get on a plane tonight somewhere and go wherever he wants for five or six days.

“I understand his point in terms of his players having a break that they were told they were going to have.”
