Liverpool make immediate Anfield change after FA Cup win over Chelsea

Liverpool have wasted no time in updating their Champions Wall at Anfield after Saturday’s FA Cup final victory over Chelsea.

The Reds emerged victorious after Alisson saved Mason Mount’s spot kick before Kostas Tsimikas scored the winning penalty for a 6-5 shootout victory for the Reds. The game had gone to penalties after an enthralling, but goalless first 120 minutes of the tie where neither side could break the deadlock at Wembley.

Saturday’s triumph was Liverpool’s eighth FA Cup title but their first since 2006 when Steven Gerrard inspired the Reds to a penalty shootout victory over West Ham at the Millennium Stadium. Liverpool have won the competition in 1964/65, 1973/74, 1985/86, 1988/89, 1991/92, 2000/01, 2005/06 and now 2021/22.

Reds fans were quick to notice the update which will now see the number eight displayed below the FA Cups title. They will be hoping to have the iconic wall updated again over the next few weeks as Liverpool continue their quest for an unprecedented quadruple. In Paris on 28 May, Jurgen Klopp’s side will hope to win their seventh European cup, while if they can overhaul Manchester City in the league, it will be Liverpool 20th English top division league title.
