As has been the case for much of the season, Liverpool continue to battle injury problems heading into the final stages of the campaign.
Luis Diaz remains out but is nearing a return to action, though it’s less positive news for Thiago as the midfielder remains on the sidelines with a hip problem. Calvin Ramsay and Stefan Bacjetic are long-term absentees.
There is also fresh concern after Darwin Nunez pulled out the Uruguay squad, a worry Liverpool could do without as they prepare to face Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal in the space of eight days after the international break.
Here is your latest updates of Liverpool injuries and return dates...
It will be almost two months since Thiago last played by the time club football resumes after the international break, with a hip injury continuing to trouble the midfielder.
He has posted videos on social media that show him in the gym, but he is not expected to make a return to first-team training during the next fortnight and his return date remains uncertain.
Nunez has pulled out of Uruguay’s squad for upcoming matches against Japan and South Korea, after suffering a cut to his ankle in the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.
The forward will stay and receive treatment at Liverpool’s training ground instead of travelling with his country, with it hoped he will have recovered in time to face Man City on April 1 in the club’s first match back after the break.
After an incredibly frustrating season to date, Diaz is finally closing in on a return to first-team action. He has not played since limping off against Arsenal in October, having suffered a setback in his recovery over the World Cup break.
Diaz has though been stepping things up in recent weeks and will reportedly be ready to take part in full team training next week, though Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to rush the winger straight back into the squad.
Henderson missed the trip to face Real Madrid due to illness, but he has recovered to join up with the England squad for games against Italy and Ukraine.
Assuming he does not pick up an injury while on international duty, Henderson will be available to face Man City.
Bajcetic will not play again this season after suffering an abductor injury against Bournemouth, with the focus for the midfielder now returning in time for the start of pre-season in July.
“Unfortunately I’ve picked up an injury that will keep me out until the end of the season,” Bajcetic postedon Instagram. “It’s very sad to say goodbye to this amazing season for me but I understand this is part of football and will only make me stronger physically and mentally.
“I would also like to say thank you to you reds for all the support through the season and I assure you I will do my best to be back stronger than ever.”
As with Bajcetic, Ramsay’s season is also over after undergoing knee surgery last month. Klopp has made it clear the club will be patient with the teenager as they look to ensure there are no long-term problems.
The Liverpool boss said: “He has that injury and this season is over – even if you could come back a bit earlier, that makes no sense because now it is really to build the boy up physically and then to have a new start and we go again.
“We cannot play catch-up all the time with him because he is a great talent, a real talent, who had the most unlucky start possible.”
