Jurgen Klopp hopes to have James Milner available once again for Liverpool’s Premier League showdown against Manchester City.
Milner missed the visit of Arsenal on Saturday and the Boxing Day victory over Newcastle United due to a hamstring problem.
“Milly is Milly, that means he is again ahead of schedule,” Klopp said ahead of the 5-1 thrashing of the Gunners.
“He had a little bit with the hamstring muscle, but he will not be available for tomorrow.
"Hopefully the game after that he will be available again."
Defenders Joel Matip and Joe Gomez also remain out with respective shoulder and ankle injuries along with long-term absentee Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Alberto Moreno is also available for selection after recovering from a recent back problem.
Dominic Solanke meanwhile could be edging closer to an Anfield exit with Crystal Palace hopeful of signing him on loan during the January transfer window.
League leaders Liverpool lead champions City by seven points ahead of Thursday’s Etihad Stadium clash.
