Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher enjoys spontaneous football match with Joao Felix and Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Liverpool great Jamie Carragher has been pictured alongside former Chelsea loanee Joao Felix and Sweden icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic during a pop-up match in Ibiza.

The former Reds defender has been enjoying his summer away from football after being one the leading pundits as part of CBS Sports' Champions League coverage as well as his prominent role on Sky Sports as they broadcast the Premier League action.

He enjoyed some downtime at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset in June as Elton John and Guns 'N' Roses headlined. It's been 10 years since Carragher hung up his boots after enjoying his career at Anfield.

And on Friday, he was snapped enjoying a kickaround with Atletico Madrid playmaker Felix, Ibrahimovic - who retired at the end of the season - and Bologna defender Kevin Bonafizi.

It was a 20-strong turnout in their football match on the Balearic island with the likes of entrepreneur Jordan Rocca joining them as well as Nicolo Langeli and Joe Serra who specialise in concierge services.

In a tweet on Saturday, the former Reds defender posed alongside the Premier League stars past and present. He said: "Two current professionals, one of them you will all get, the other I’m not so sure!"

It's not been a quiet week for Carragher after reigniting his social media back-and-forth with Rio Ferdinand.

"Never criticised Silva, Benzema, Neves or Gerrard, I don’t like Saudi trying to buy football like they have Golf," the 45-year-old responded to the former Manchester United defender's claims of hypocrisy following Steven Gerrard's move to become Al Ettifaq manager.

"I knew you’d be all over it @rioferdy5 like you were in Qatar! That's why you refused to do the opening game for Match of the Day, [you] didn’t want to criticise your paymaster!"
