Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker subject of strong claim from Premier League rival

Liverpool's Alisson Becker has been hailed the best goalkeeper in the Premier League by Arsenal counterpart Bernd Leno.

Alisson has proven an outstanding success since arriving from Roma for £65million in the summer of 2018.

The Brazil international earned the man of the match award in helping the Reds win the Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur last June.

He was also between the sticks in the FIFA Club World Cup triumph over Flamengo in December, and has only one clean sheet away from leading the Premier League Golden Glove race despite missing more than a third of the season through injury and suspension.

And when asked to name the top keeper in the Premier League, Leno was unequivocal.

“For me it's clear, it's Alisson,” the German said. "He's good at everything and his stats are also very good.

"He's played a number of big games for Liverpool and for me it's clear that he's the best goalkeeper at the moment."

Speaking to Soccer AM, Leno added: "Liverpool have conceded the fewest goals of any other team in the Premier League this season, and Alisson is largely behind this achievement.”
