Liverpool go top in Premier League table with 3-1 win against Wolves

NEW DELHI: Liverpool staged a remarkable comeback on Saturday, defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 away to temporarily claim the top spot in Premier League table.

In an initial struggle, Liverpool conceded a 7th-minute goal by Hwang Hee-chan after Pedro Neto's dazzling run. But after that Wolves missed quite a few scoring opportunities.

Liverpool's second-half resurgence, capped by Cody Gakpo's tap-in following Mohamed Salah's assist in the 55th minute, turned the tide in their favor.

Wearing the captain's armband on his 200th Premier League appearance, Andy Robertson slid in Liverpool's second from another Salah pass in the 85th minute as the visitors poured forward.

Liverpool made it three in time added on, with Wolves' Hugo Bueno touching the ball into his own net from a shot by Harvey Elliott, sending the away fans into delirium.

It was Liverpool's fourth win in a row after drawing with Chelsea in its opening game of the campaign. Liverpool are unbeaten after five games this season.

The result put Liverpool top of the table for now on 13 points after five games. Wolves are 15th on three points.
