Liverpool FC urged to copy Manchester United transfer strategy

Former midfielder Jan Molby has told his old club Liverpool to sign a player like Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes.

United signed Fernandes in January and in just nine appearances for the club the Portuguese has had an immeasurable impact.

His three goals and four assists have already made him a firm favourite among the Old Trafford faithful and United will look to bring even more quality to play alongside Fernandes this summer, as they pursue top targets Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool have recruited well under Jurgen Klopp but there is a distinct lack of goals and creativity in their midfield and Molby believes they need a player like Fernandes to solve that issue.

"It might hurt me to say this a little bit, but if you look at the impact Bruno Fernandes has had at Manchester United, now I would love Liverpool to sign that type of a midfield player", the Dane said on Hotel Tia.

"[I want] a midfield player that brings something different to what [James] Milner or [Naby] Keita or [Georginio] Wijnaldum or [Jordan] Henderson brings.

"So I would dearly love us to get [one like that]. Who would that be? We could go back to Germany, they play Monday night, Leverkusen, the young boy Kai Havertz looks a really, really good player.

"Let's wait and see and see what kind of money Liverpool have available to make transfers, but I think there are plenty of exciting young players out there."
