Liverpool fans react after club announces Cody Gakpo deal in perfect way

Liverpool have announced the signing of Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven for a fee worth around £37 million and excited Reds fans have let their feelings be known.

Since the news broke on Monday night of Liverpool agreeing a fee with the Dutch side, Reds supporters have been waiting to see their newest hero donning a home shirt.

After completing his medical on Merseyside on Wednesday, Gakpo was announced the same day at 9pm as Liverpool opted to copy the picture they used to announce the signing of fellow Dutchman Virgil van Dijk four years ago.

One Liverpool fan took to Twitter to proclaim Gakpo as the successor to a recent Anfield hero: "Now this is the actual Sadio Mane's Liverpool replacement."

This fan had some words for Manchester United after they missed out on signing the Netherlands sensation: "It’s funny to see all those United fans now deleting tweets about how good Gakpo is, to then lose out on him to Liverpool."

Is £37 million for Gakpo an "absolute steal"? This football fan certainly seems to think so.

"Liverpool have only gone and done it. £37m for Gakpo is some good business. An absolute steal in this current market."

An Arsenal fan wasn't too proud to say he was "gutted" Liverpool signed Gakpo.

"Gutted Liverpool got Gakpo would of loved him at Arsenal, quality player."

Another Liverpool fan compared the pictures of the Van Dijk announcement picture next to Gakpo's.
