Liverpool fans makes same Jurgen Klopp point after contract development

Liverpool supporters have been reacting online after it emerged that the club are hopeful of agreeing a new contract with Jurgen Klopp.

As reported by the ECHO on Thursday morning, Liverpool are hopeful of agreeing a new contract with Klopp to extend his stay at the club. His current deal runs out in 2024.

The ECHO understands that the Reds boss has suggested he would be open to a further deal at Anfield, where he has been in charge since October 2015. Klopp - whose side remain in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple after beating Villarreal 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night - had long been expected to leave when his present deal ends.

But following this morning’s development, Liverpool are starting to dream that the German could be about to stick around for a bit longer. And below is a look at how Reds fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news.

As reported by the ECHO on Thursday morning, Mike Gordon, the president of Fenway Sports Group, running of the club, was at Wednesday's Champions League semi-final leg against Villarreal, where he was sat near Klopp's agent Mark Kosicke.

Gordon was key to negotiating Klopp's last contract extension in December 2019 and will again lead the talks with FSG happy to allow the German to remain in charge for as long as he sees fit. Speaking back in March, Klopp spoke about the possibility of further extending his stay at Anfield.

He said: “If I have the energy levels for it. That is important. I love what I do but I’ve said a couple of times there must be something else out there in the world, to be honest, apart from always thinking about properly skilled, good-looking, fantastically nice football players."
