Liverpool fans have a new song for Nat Phillips and it is perfect

Liverpool’s season has thrown up several unlikely stories, and Nat Phillips being a hero is one of them.

The 24-year-old started the season well down the centre-back pecking order, but was thrown into the spotlight with several injuries in that position.

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have all been out for the majority of the campaign, while Ozan Kabak has recently been absent with an injury.

Phillips has featured 19 times this season, including the final five league fixtures which all resulted in wins.

The centre-back also netted his first goal for Liverpool in the 3-0 win over Burnley in midweek, in what was also his first professional goal.

His performances this season have seen him become a cult hero among the Anfield faithful, and has already got a song to endear him among the hearts of Kopites.

In a video posted on Twitter taken at a public viewing of Liverpool’s win over Crystal Palace on the final day, fans can be heard chanting a new song to Phillips:

To the tune of the John Paul Young song ‘Love is in the Air’, fans can be heard singing ‘Nat Phillips in the air’ on repeat.

It remains to be seen what his situation will be after the summer.

But Phillips has been one of the positive stories in an otherwise forgettable campaign for the Reds.
