Liverpool fans braced for Champions League final ticket scramble after allocation details announced

Liverpool fans face a scramble for Champions League final tickets after the club were handed an allocation of just 16,613 tickets for the match in Madrid next month.

And Reds supporters will have to dig deep into their pockets with more than 75% of the tickets costing at least £154.

The allocation is marginally less than the 16,626 they were given for last season's final at Kiev's NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium, which had a reduced capacity of 63,000 for the occasion.

Next month's final will take place at Atletico Madrid's home ground, the Estadio Metropolitano, which has a capacity of 67,829, although that is likely to be reduced for Liverpool's visit.

The Reds booked their place with a remarkable semi-final second leg win over Barcelona on Tuesday.

Liverpool fans who have been to seven Champions League games this season - the Reds have played six at home - will be guaranteed a ticket.

A ballot will then take place for season ticket holders, members and fan card holders who have recorded six Champions League matches.

Of the allocation of tickets received, approximately 5% are Category 1 tickets at £513 (£410 for restricted view) and 21% are Category 2 at £385 each (£308 for restricted view).

The remainder sees 54% in Category 3 at £154 each (£120 for restricted view), and 20% in Category 4 at £60 each.

Within the allocation, UEFA has provided an allocation of 31 pairs of wheelchair and personal assistant tickets, and 25 pairs of easy access tickets, priced at £60 per pair.

In addition, UEFA have provided a maximum allocation of 100 adult/junior combined tickets, priced at £120 per pair.

And Liverpool have been given a further allocation of 300 top category seats that, in line with UEFA guidelines, will be used as part of the players’ allocation, the club’s UEFA Youth League team’s players and staff, travelling club staff, and VIPs.

Tickets will go on sale to priority right holders at 9.15am on Tuesday, May 14. Fans with seven or more Champions League games recorded can buy their tickets from 8.15am on Wednesday, May 15.

Fans can enter the ballot for adult/junior combined tickets and ambulant disabled spaces from 9am on Thursday.

The window for the remaining ballot process opens on Friday at 9am. For full details, visit the official Liverpool website.
