Liverpool evening headlines as Mohamed Salah gets second Covid test and Jamie Carraher sends warning

Here are the Liverpool evening headlines for Wednesday, November 18.

Salah may miss three games after second positive Covid-19 test

Mohamed Salah has tested positive for coronavirus for a second time while on international duty with Egypt.

It means the 28-year-old will miss Liverpool’ s Premier League game against Leicester City on Sunday, and could also be out of the matches against Atalanta and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Salah was in self-isolation after originally testing positive last week.

A statement on the Egyptian FA’s Facebook page read : “Today, Mohamed Salah, the star of the national team and Liverpool English club, conducted a new swab to detect the COVID-DIGITS virus, but the result was positive.

“Their case is followed up first by the knowledge of Captain Mohamed Fadl, the member of the five-year committee, head of the team mission returning from Togo and Dr. Mohamed Abu Alala, the elected doctor.”

Carragher sends warning after Melwood departure

Jamie Carragher believes it won't be easy for Liverpool to replicate the atmosphere of Melwood at their new AXA Training Centre

The Reds officially relocated to their new £50 million home, which is based in Kirkby, on Tuesday with Klopp taking charge of his first training session.

And while Carragher feels the move was needed to ensure Liverpool remain one of the game's superpowers, he did stress Melwood, where he trained throughout his Reds career, will not be easily replaced.

"It won't be easy to [bring the atmosphere] because there's so much invested in Melwood in terms of memories and rooms and setups, just the way you went about things," Carragher told the ECHO:

"It was different. It will take a bit of getting used to and it is like building that history again.

"It's like when a team moves to a new stadium, it's still your stadium, but it's hard to put it into words, it's just all about feelings and how you feel.

"So they will have to rebuild that and how they feel about the new place and getting used to it.

Klopp substitute wish could be granted after EFL decision

Jurgen Klopp ’s desire for five substitutions per Premier League game could become a reality after a u-turn from the EFL.

Football League clubs will now be able to make five changes in a game, though the Premier League limit remains at three.

That is despite extra substitutions being permitted following the restart after lockdown this summer.

But Reds boss Klopp and others will now be calling for the Premier League to follow suit, particularly given the increase in injuries to players in the top flight.
