Liverpool evening headlines as Jurgen Klopp provides injury update and Carragher sets new target

Here are your Liverpool evening headlines for Friday, February 5.

Injury update

Jurgen Klopp has provided an availability update for Sunday's game against Man City.

Alisson, Sadio Mane and Fabinho have all missed football recently through injuries whilst new signings Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies are yet to make their debuts.

In his pre-match press conference, Klopp said there is a chance that all could feature on Sunday.

"Ali is much better, good enough to train individual session," he said.

"Sadio and Fabinho can train later today, we will see.

"An ideal world, you have a few weeks to work on defensive things. Ben and Ozan had an analysis meeting yesterday."

Carragher sets new target

Jamie Carragher says Liverpool must set themselves a new target this season, even if they beat Man City on Sunday.

After the midweek defeat to Brighton, the Reds cannot afford to lose against City if they want to keep their title hopes alive.

Yet Carragher has argued that Klopp's men first need to focus on securing top-four.

"I think Liverpool have to be looking at the top-four positions," Carragher told Sky Sports.

"I think I'm saying the obvious here but take each game as it comes. At this moment, the form is so up and down, there are so many changes, you're never quite sure what the team is going to be.

"They're still waiting for players to come back. I think if you offered Liverpool top four now they would take that and shake on it. That should be the mindset for Liverpool at the moment, it's what they're aiming for.

"If they could get back into the title race, to do that they have to beat City on Sunday, I truly believe that. With seven or eight games to go, they can see where they are and hopefully from Liverpool's point of view, City will have some sort of drop because the run they're on at the moment is out of this world."

Nike deliver on kit promise

Nike have certainly delivered on their pledge to ditch the templates when it came to Liverpool's kit.

Exactly a year ago, Nike senior director Heidi Burgett insisted the Reds would receive a unique kit design, reassuring a fan that their controversial use of kit templates had been scrapped.

As such, the use of bright colours on the trim in the home shirt, along with the teal away shirt and a black third kit shows Nike's promises have been delivered.

Fans can likely expect similarly unique designs going forward.
