Here are your Liverpool evening headlines for Sunday, October 11.

FSG support English football changes

Liverpool owners FSG have supported proposals from EFL chairman Rick Parry that would drastically alter the make-up of English football.

According to the Telegraph , Liverpool and Manchester United are among those leading the charge that would see the top flight reduced to 18 teams.

The Premier League would also hand out a £250million rescue package to the EFL aimed at offsetting the financial losses incurred due to the coronavirus crisis.

The League Cup and Community Shield would also be scrapped, while controlling power of the vision would also be handed to the league’s biggest club and those that have been in the league longest.

Ayling reveals Mane revenge

Leeds full-back Luke Ayling has spoken out over the Whites’ dramatic 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on the opening day of the season, shedding light on what happened when the defender dared nutmeg Reds winger Sadio Mane.

Talking to Soccer AM, Ayling said: "They came out flying the first few minutes, I was like, ‘Jesus, oh my gosh, it’s going to be a long day’.

"Then I chucked the megs in and thought, ‘This is a bit of me!’

"About five minutes later, I was down the line and he went straight through my legs. I thought, ‘What’s happened here?’ - he got me straight back."

Liverpool not interested in Butland

Liverpool are not in negotiations to sign Jack Butland from Stoke City.

First-choice shotstopper Alisson Becker faces two months on the sidelines following an injury, and rumours had since surfaced linking England international Butland with a move to Anfield.

But boss Jurgen Klopp is set to trust in Adrian despite his high-profile mistake in the 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa, and has zero interest in signing Butland.

Klopp may also put his faith in highly-rated youngster Caoimhin Kelleher, who remains at his disposal.
