Liverpool confirm double injury blow amid top-four battle with Chelsea and Leicester City

Liverpool will be without two of this campaign's signings for their must-win final two games of the Premier League season.

Sunday's incredible last-gasp win over West Brom, which saw goalkeeper Alisson score a stoppage-time winner, has kept the Reds' coveted top-four fate in their own hands.

If Jurgen Klopp's men manage to defeat both Burnley on Wednesday and then Crystal Palace this Sunday then the Merseyside club will qualify for a place in next season's Champions League, an impressive feat considering injuries to a number of key players.

Liverpool's top-four rivals Chelsea and Leicester face off at Stamford Bridge tonight and the result in that game will determine what the Reds will need from their final two fixtures, but they will be without two important players for both games, something which is a boost for both Chelsea and the Foxes.

Before the victory over West Brom, Jurgen Klopp announced that red-hot frontman Diogo Jota will be unavailable for the remainder of the season after injuring his foot.

The Liverpool boss explained that the issue is 'a problem with the bone', but the Portuguese international is unlikely to miss this summer's European Championships.

Klopp also confirmed that January signing Ozan Kabak will sit out the final two matches of the campaign after suffering from a muscular issue.

The centre-back, who is on loan from Bundesliga side Schalke, has missed the Reds' last three outings with Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams starting ahead of him in defence.

“Ozan, no,” replied Klopp when asked if Kabak could return from his injury this season. “From the long-term injured, and unfortunately Ozan is a long-term, nobody is coming back I don’t think.”

However, Klopp did provide some positive news for the Liverpool faithful with both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner expected to return back to the squad travelling to Burnley.
