Liverpool captain Niamh Fahey could record her 100th appearance for the Reds in Sunday's Women's Super League clash with West Ham.
Fahey, a lifelong Liverpool fan, enjoyed spells with Arsenal, Chelsea and Bordeaux before making the switch to Merseyside in July 2018. Now in her fifth season with the Reds, Fahey has started all of Liverpool's league games so far this term and is likely to bring up her milestone appearance against the Hammers at Prenton Park.
Typically deployed at centre-back, the Republic of Ireland international has more than 100 caps for her country and played a pivotal role in securing Liverpool's place back in the top-flight last season, missing just three games as Matt Beard' side stormed to the FA Women's Championship title. After earning promotion, Fahey penned a new deal with her childhood club to extend her spell on Merseyside.

Speaking about Fahey's achievement ahead of this weekend's clash, the Liverpool boss said : "It’s not easy to make that amount of appearances at clubs in women’s football, especially as there’s only 12 teams in our division. It’s an amazing achievement and Niamh helped us get promotion last season and then helped Ireland qualify for the World Cup, so what an amazing year she has had.
"Niamh is an unbelievable professional, she’s a great character. I’m not giving my team away yet but when she plays her next game in a red shirt it will be a fantastic achievement.
"And the fact she is a Red as well, I think that is very fitting for her.."
Liverpool will be hoping they can extend their unbeaten run to four games in all competitons when they welcome West Ham to Prenton Park on Sunday. The Hammers, managed by former Liverpool defender Paul Konchesky, currently sit fifth in the table with three wins from their last five WSL games and will be a big test for the Reds and.
Liverpool registered a thumping 5-0 victory when they faced this weekend's opponents in pre-season, but Matt Beard expects a more competitive encounter when his former club travel to Merseyside this weeekend.
He said: "It’s always nice to see familiar faces but we’ve got a job to do on Sunday. When we played them in pre-season they had a lot of players missing but I think they’ve actually done really well this year in a tough league."
