Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hits back at Sean Dyche as Burnley row rumbles on

Jurgen Klopp has hit back at Sean Dyche for labelling Daniel Sturridge a cheat as the fallout from Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Burnley continues.

Klopp voiced his unhappiness with the hosts’ aggressive approach after his side claimed a come-from-behind win at Turf Moor on Wednesday but lost Joe Gomez to a leg fracture.

Asked for a response the following day, Dyche sidestepped the question by highlighting what he felt was a clear dive from Reds striker Sturridge during the second half.

The Clarets boss said: "He [Klopp] didn't reference Daniel Sturridge's cheating when he went down, nothing near him, and he got a free-kick for it."

But now Klopp has put the pressure back on his Burnley counterpart, refuting claims that his No15 cheated and turning attention back onto a studs-up Phil Bardsley challenge in the opening 45 minutes.

“Daniel Sturridge is no cheat,” he said. “I think what Sean tried to do there is to bring up another subject so somebody could speak about that. I’m not sure if he spoke about the challenge of Bardsley on Alberto Moreno?

“What do we talk about? We all have our own interests and aims? What can I say? After that game they are talking about one situation where a player goes down without contact, I don’t know if the referee even judged it? It was a normal situation which can happen, sometimes a striker expects a tackle and tries to avoid it by jumping?

“I can’t avoid it if people want to discuss Daniel, but on the other side I said what I had to say about that after the game, and different opinions are allowed obviously.”
