Liverpool and Man Utd target's price tag dropped amid Barcelona transfer interest

Real Betis have reportedly lowered their asking price for Junior Firpo following interest from Barcelona .

The 22-year-old was the subject of enquiries from Liverpool and Man Utd previously, but both were put off by Betis' high valuation of the player.

Now publication Sport report via Sports Mole that interest from Barca has made Betis lower their demands to £23 million for any potential suitors.

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is keen to take Firpo to the Nou Camp to provide competition for first-choice left-back Jordi Alba.

The Catalans are already alleged to have tabled a bid which would meet Betis' valuation, but this has not been confirmed by either club.

Liverpool also remain in the market for a left-back after offloading Alberto Moreno this summer, leaving them short of cover for Andy Robertson.

Firpo admitted he was flattered from interest from Barcelona however, leaving them favourites to land his signature.

"It is true that I have heard the stories of me moving to Barcelona," Firpo previously told Mundo Deportivo. "I take real pride in this and to be linked with a club like FC Barcelona is a compliment.

"But at the moment I am focused on pre-season training with Betis. I am so grateful to the club, because they have given me everything."

Barcelona have already been busy in this transfer window, signing Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, Frenkie de Jong from Ajax and goalkeeper Neto from Valencia for sizeable fees.

Firpo made 29 appearances for his club last season and helped Spain win the under-21 European Championships.

Liverpool meanwhile could yet to the Spanish giants.

The city is set to host a summit for members of the European Club Association on August 15, two weeks before the transfer deadlines in Spain and France.

Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu is set to attend the summit, as is PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, providing them the perfect opportunity to thrash out terms of a deal for the Brazilian.
