Liverpool and Man City's remaining fixtures with title race going down to the wire

Manchester City provided an emphatic response against Leeds United after Liverpool's win over Newcastle.

The Reds momentarily leapfrogged City in the Premier League table on 82 points with a 1-0 win at St James' Park thanks to Naby Keita's solitary goal before Pep Guardiola's replied with a convincing 4-0 win at Elland Road with strikes from Rodri, Nathan Ake, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho.

The reigning champions regained top spot on 83 points and, as a result, the title race is set to go down to the wire with no margin for error. City are well aware that if they win their remaining four games, they'll retain the title, but anything can happen with a few tricky games to navigate.

Up next, City host a Newcastle who are enjoyed a resurgence under Eddie Howe moving into the top half of the table. The Magpies are in brilliant form and gave the Reds a run for their money in Saturday's lunchtime game. Guardiola's side then travel to Molineux to face a struggling Wolves side who were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Saturday. It's then another away day for the Manchester club as they visit the London Stadium to take on West Ham.

The Hammers have been excellent under David Moyes this season but whether they reach the Europa League final could determine how strong their side is on the day. Key players could be rested but first, they'll need to overturn a 2-1 deficit as Eintracht Frankfurt have the upper hand in the semi-final tie.

City's final game shouldn't give them too much bother at home to Aston Villa but they can't take anything for granted with Liverpool ready to pounce on any potential slip-up.

Maximum points are not a given for Liverpool either as they arguably have the hardest fixture in the run-in, hosting Tottenham next weekend. If they can overcome that hurdle, Klopp's men will then travel to Aston Villa to go up against a familiar face in Steven Gerrard who they hope won't ruin his former side's title bid.

An away day to Southampton follows that before a home game against Wolves on the final day to finish what has been a remarkable season. It would be silly to bet against the title race going right to the end as both sides are showing no signs of slowing down.
