Liverpool and Halton record rises in Covid infections

Positive Covid infections have risen in Liverpool and Halton.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, Liverpool recorded 1,811 infections in the week ending August 5 - 29 more case than in the week before.

And in Halton, the borough recorded 384 infections in the week ending August 5 - 28 more case than in the week before.

This means the week on week percentage change increases were 2% and 8% respectively.

The four other parts of the Liverpool City Region - Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral - all recorded decreases in the percentage change week on week.

In Knowsley, they fell by 7%; in Sefton they decreased by 8%; in St Helens they dropped by 7%; in Wirral they fell by 7%.

Infections fell in Warrington, in West Lancs, and in and Cheshire West and Chester.

In England, infections dropped. In the week ending August 5, the nation had 164,686 coronavirus cases, which is 231 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 1,811 cases in the week ending August 5, which is 29 more cases than in the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change increased by 2%.

The latest infection rate was 361.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 384 positive tests over the last week, which is 28 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change increased by 8% in the week ending August 5. The latest infection rate is 295.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Knowsley

There was a total of 549 cases in the week ending August 5, which is 41 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 360.1 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases decreased by 7% week on week.

Wirral

There were 929 positive tests in the week ending August 5, which is 68 fewer cases than in the previous week. Wirral's week-on-week percentage change decreased by 7%. The latest infection rate was 286.4 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There were 606 positive tests in the week ending August 5, which is 42 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate was 334.6 cases per 100,000 people. The week-on-week percentage change in St Helens decreased by 7%.

Sefton

There was a total of 788 cases in the week ending August 5, which is 69 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 285.6 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases decreased by 8% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 5,067 positive tests over in the week ending August 5, which is 163 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change decreased by 3%. The latest infection rate is 297.58 cases per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 341 coronavirus cases in the week ending August 5, which is 44 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was an infection rate of 297.83 per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage decrease of 11% in infections.

Warrington

There were 678 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending August 5, which is 23 fewer cases than the previous week.

The week on week percentage figure decreased by 3%. There was an infection rate of 323.79 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 869 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending August 5, which is 53 fewer cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 252.75 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage decrease of 6% in cases.

England

In England in the week ending August 5, there was an infection rate of 291.22 per 100,000 people.

The nation recorded 164,686 coronavirus cases, which is 231 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week on week percentage decrease of 0.1% in cases.
