Police were stunned to discover a live shotgun being used walking stick.
The bizarre 'stick gun' was located during a house clearence.
Police were called as a precaution - and testing was even carried out to determine if it had been used in crime, reports Cheshire Live.
Officers established the single barrel 410 shotgun had been repurposed as a mobility aid.
The bizarre find was made in Cheshire.
"Nothing is quite what it seems," police said on Twitter.
Officers from Cheshire and North Wales Alliance Armed Policing Team were alerted to the find.
They confiscated the firearm and then made checks to determine whether it had been involved in any criminal activity.
After being given the all-clear, the gun was taken away to be destroyed.
It has not been revealed who owned the weapon-come-walking stick - or where exactly it was discovered.
It's also not known for how long the gun had been used as a walking stick.
The police unit said on Twitter there was 'no criminal intent'.
"Nothing is quite what it seems.
"Walking stick that is actually a live 410 shotgun!
"Recovered from a house clearance and no criminal intent," wrote officers.
A spokesperson for Cheshire police said: "This firearm was discovered during a house clearance and subsequently recovered by officers.
"Following the recovery the firearm was checked and confirmed not to have been used in any criminal activities.
"The item will now be destroyed."
Shotguns are legal in the UK so long as they cannot hold more than three shells - and are subject to strict controls and the appropriate licence or permit.
