As it happened: Liberal MP moves to crossbench while Greens leader suspended from Senate

It looks like Australians will head to the polls for a federal election in May, after the Prime Minister said the 2019 Budget was being brought forward.

Scott Morrison's announcement came as disgruntled Liberal backbencher Julia Banks announced she would be moving to the crossbench, further weakening the Government's hold on the House of Representatives.

And in the Senate, Greens leader Richard Di Natale has been suspended for refusing to withdraw remarks he made about Liberal Barry O'Sullivan.

Look back over the day in Federal Parliament.
