Lisburn police pursuit leads to arrest of 15-year-old

A 15-year-old has been arrested following a police pursuit on Tuesday night which started outside Lisburn and ended in West Belfast.

Police say the suspect was driving "dangerously" and "at times driving at 80 miles per hour in 30 mile per hour zones and taking roundabouts the wrong way".

"The tyres of the car he was driving were stung by officers from Police West Belfast and with sparks flying, the car came to a stop a short distance away," a PSNI spokesperson added.

"The passenger made a run for it, but was caught and has been dealt with for drugs offences.

"We’ll continue to work hard at taking people like this off the road, so the place is a bit safer for everyone else."

Police added that the suspect "spent the night in the cell after being arrested for dangerous driving, no insurance, possession of Class C drugs, failing to stop for police, driving whilst unfit and being disqualified to drive by virtue of age".
