Lisa Smith will spend weekend in jail despite being granted bail on strict conditions

Terror suspect Lisa Smith will spend the weekend in jail despite being granted bail, after her bond wasn’t processed on Friday.

The Co Louth former Air Corps member was expected to be released on Saturday from Limerick prison, where she was being held on remand.

As part of her bail terms, the mum of one must lodge €500 and an independent surety must lodge €1,000 with the courts.

Sources said she had not had the opportunity to take up bail as it had not been processed, and, it was likely bail would be processed on Monday.

The 37-year-old is charged with being a member of an unlawful terrorist group and bail was granted on a number of strict conditions.

Smith must reside at an address in the north-east and sign on at a Garda station twice daily from 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm.

She was also ordered to obey a curfew, having to remain indoors from 8pm to 7am.

The judge warned her that she must answer the phone if called by gardai and if she failed to do so it would be a breach of bail. This would result in her going back into custody.

She’s been remanded to appear before Dublin District Court on January 8.
