Lions Week 1 inactives indicate Frank Ragnow and Rashaan Melvin will play

As the Detroit Lions prepare for their Week 1 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals they will do it without the services of defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand, who was previously been ruled out, and Jarrad Davis which was expected with him nursing an ankle injury.

Oday Aboushi and Beau Benzschawel both being inactive indicates starting center Frank Ragnow should be good to go. If there is a problem, Kenny Wiggins should be ready to step into the starting lineup — as we suggested in our comprehensive depth chart.

Rookie corner Amani Oruwariye being inactive suggests starting corner Rashaan Melvin is also ready to play.

Fellow rookie wide receiver Travis Fulgham is also inactive, leaving the Lions with four receivers, five running backs and three tight ends at their offensive skill positions.

David Blough is the Lions third quarterback and should be ruled as the emergency quarterback on a weekly basis unless something changes to the roster.

Arizona Cardinals inactives

The Cardinals ruled two offensive linemen OUT in Friday’s injury report, including starting right tackle Marcus Gilbert and reserve Lamont Gaillard. The big surprise is Brett Toth — who was expected to take over for Gilbert at right tackle — is a healthy scratch.
