Lionel Richie takes swipe at stars tiring of fans when they get ‘too famous’

Lionel Richie told aspiring celebrities that it is important for them to “like people”.

Speaking on his son-in-law Joel Madden’s podcast, VEEPS Artist Friendly, Richie gave some advice for those hoping to enter the entertainment business.

“If you don't like people, here's how it's going to sound. You spend the first half of your career going, ‘Look at me’. And then you finally get famous. ‘Don't look at me.’”

It comes as Chappell Roan continues to face backlash over an incident involving an 11-year-old fan.

Brazilian footballer Jorginho claimed that his wife and stepdaughter were left in tears after an encounter with a security guard near Roan at Lollapalooza Brazil.

The 28-year-old singer said she had not been aware of the incident and that it did not involve her “own personal security”.
