Lionel Messi's Inter Miami teammates include Nottingham Forest old boy

Former Nottingham Forest youth player Robert Taylor is set to play alongside Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

The 28-year-old winger arrived at the City Ground aged 16 and spent a season in the academy books during 2008/09. After that, the Finland international also also spent time at Lincoln City and Barnet, but never made a senior appearance for the English clubs.

Having signed for the MLS team last summer, Taylor will now be relishing the prospect of playing alongside and sharing a dressing room with superstar Messi. The Argentina ace revealed he would be playing in America after agreeing a two-and-a-half-year deal, following the expiration of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.

Along with Taylor, Phil Neville's son Harvey will also welcome Messi as his new teammate. He joined the club from Manchester United in 2021 and has played a total of 14 games after getting promoted from Inter Miami II.

Inter Miami, which is co-owned by David Beckham, parted ways with Neville senior earlier this month. He has since taken up a new role with the Canada men's national team.

"It's great to see Messi coming into the league," DC United manager Wayne Rooney said about the move. "Over the years, we've seen the impact of the likes of David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"[He] is arguably the greatest player of all-time and recently won the World Cup almost single-handedly. He’s going to have a big impact on Miami and MLS. It's a great signing and I'm sure everyone is excited for him to be here."
