Linfield striker Shayne Lavery a summer transfer target for Kilmarnock and Motherwell

Kilmarnock boss Tommy Wright is keen on recruiting Shayne Lavery in the summer - but Motherwell are also in the hunt for the prolific Linfield striker.

Both Scottish Premier League clubs are reportedly considering summer moves for the 22-year-old who is the Irish League’s top scorer this season.

Lavery has scored 21 goals in 29 games for the Blues this campaign and that has alerted Killie boss Wright who is keen to take his fellow countryman to Rugby Park.

According to the Daily Record, the key to Kilmarnock making a move for the seven times capped Northern Ireland forward is maintaining their Premiership status.

Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Dundee United, courtesy of a Kyle Lafferty hat-trick, edged the club five points off the bottom of the table and two points above the relegation play-off.

Lavery, who joined Linfield in 2019, is out of contract in the summer and Motherwell boss Graham Alexander is also reportedly monitoring the situation.

The striker’s first professional club was Everton, although he previously had a short loan spell with Falkirk in Scotland in 2019.

Seasoned Linfield striker Andy Waterworth has already indicated he will be leaving Windsor Park in the summer as he cannot commit to the club's new full-time model.

Losing Lavery as well would leave Blues boss David Healy light in the attacking department and seeking reinforcements in the summer transfer market.
