Line of Duty's Martin Compston 'feeds trolls' over Euro 2020 tweets

Line of Duty's Martin Compston has been accused of "feeding the trolls" by responding to tweets about the Euros.

Compston played DI Steve Arnott on the blockbuster police drama since 2012, all the while disguising his natural accent.

Born and raised in Greenock, he is a proud Scotsman and a huge fan of the national football team.

He has thrown his weight behind Scotland throughout the competition, with a series of passionate social media posts making it abundantly clear who he supports.

This morning (Wednesday) he said he was re-watching videos of Scotland's equaliser against Croatia on Monday.

Taking to Twitter, Martin wrote :"Been watching beer garden videos of the equaliser ever since I woke up, was worth the admission fee alone.

"For that @ScotlandNT and for giving us all something to look forward to and get excited about for the last 6 months legends to a man. On to the next one." [sic]

He has also responded to baiting tweets from England fans.

Twitter user Ryan Bird quoted one of his tweets saying: "England, seven points. Scotland, one point."

To which Martin replied: "I know Ryan must be tough you were the only team that couldn’t beat us when we’re that pish. That being said, by the end of it we’ll still have as many Euros winners medals as each other always that comfort [smiling face with hearts emoji] best of luck!"

Dozens of people rushed to comment.

One wrote: "We’re mostly just happy Scotland qualified at all. The fact we are a small nation living rent free in our larger southern neighbours head as evidenced by this series of tweets is a delightful bonus."

Another said: "First rule of Twitter, don't feed the trolls."

A third wrote: "Lad you were acting like you'd won when you drew 0-0 [with England]."
