Line of Duty returns to Netflix following new licensing deal

Line of Duty has returned to Netflix in the UK, after it was removed from the streaming service back in April.

The show, which is filmed in Northern Ireland, was removed amid the collapse of distribution company Kew Media, but a deal to restore the series has now been reached.

As it was prior to the show being removed, only the first four seasons of Line of Duty will be available to stream on Netflix when it returns.

The fifth season, which was first aired in 2019 and which guest starred Stephen Graham, is currently only available on BBC iPlayer.

The news comes just a week after the main cast and writers of Line of Duty gave us an update of how they were finding lockdown, posting a hilarious, tongue-in-cheek clip of themselves, in an effort to raise money for NHS charity, Ask For Masks.

The show's creator Jed Mercurio posted a video of AC-12 back in action, with Northern Irish actor Adrian Dunbar, Vicky McClure and Martin Compston all appearing.

Filming for Line of Duty season six had been delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis.

The hit drama has since been given the green light to return to work following the coronavirus pandemic but Jed said the crew won’t restart production until safety concerns are addressed.

“Nobody knows how this is going to unfold and we’ve just got to make sure everybody’s safe,” Jed recently told The Andrew Marr Show.

“I want to get back as soon as we can, but that’s got to be when it’s safe.”
