Lille manager makes Boubakary Soumare admission amid Manchester United transfer links

Lille manager Christophe Galtier has admitted that he doesn't know if midfield starlet Boubakary Soumare will remain with the club, amid speculation linking him with a transfer to Manchester United.

United have been stricken with several big injuries this season and no position has been as impacted as much as the midfield.

Paul Pogba has managed just eight appearances throughout the campaign after being plagued by ankle injuries and Scott McTominay hasn't featured since damaging his knee ligaments in December.

The duo are expected to be out for a number of weeks yet, although McTominay is now moving freely again after previously having to use crutches.

United are understandably missing their two best midfielders and as a result have been linked with a number of replacements to bolster Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's options.

One such name is Lille's 20-year-old prodigy Soumare, who has emerged as one Europe's best young defensive-midfielders this season.

As a result he is earning admiring glances from some of Europe's biggest clubs and Galtier admits he doesn't know if he will still be at the club when the January transfer window shuts next week.

“I don’t know. About Bouba Soumare, I don’t know,” Galtier said. “No-one’s told me anything about his situation, maybe it won’t. I don’t know.

“He wants to play and fight with the other players to win on Sunday. That’s certain.”
