A LIGHT aircraft has crashed on the runway at an airport in Fife, sparking an emergency response.
The emergency services were called to Fife Airport, near Glenrothes, following reports that a small plane had crashed on the runway at around 10.45am on Thursday.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service mobilised appliances from Lochgelly, Kirkcaldy, Methil, Burntisland and Glenrothes to help with the incident.
Shortly after the emergency alert, fire crews were informed that there were no serious injuries, and they received a stop message shortly after 11am.
Police also confirmed that no serious injuries were reported following the crash.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.45am on Thursday, we received a report that a small plane had crashed on the runway at Fife Airport near Glenrothes.
“Emergency services attended, but no serious injuries were reported.
“No further police action is required.”
